How To Clean Up Computer Scratches

You use your computer daily for business-related tasks including checking email, balancing finances and working on projects. Moisten a cloth with the mixture. Wipe the monitor screen with the cloth to remove dust and smudges. Allow the screen to dry. Dab some petroleum jelly on a clean cloth. Gently rub the petroleum jelly into the scratches. This fills in the scratches and makes them less noticeable. Apply auto-rubbing compound to larger scratches if the petroleum jelly does not fill them in. Use a clean cloth to polish the compound into the scratches. Dip the tip of a small paintbrush or a thinly rolled piece of paper into a bottle of clear lacquer. Dab clear lacquer into the large scratches. Let the lacquer dry. Computer Case Dampen a clean cloth with distilled water and gently wipe the computer case to remove dust, smudges and other residue. Apply a few drops of liquid soap to the cloth to remove stubborn stains. Inspect the case carefully, looking for fine scratches and deep gouges. You can feel deep gouges by running the tip of your finger or fingernail over the case. Apply a few drops of fine scratch remover to a clean cloth and rub the substance into the fine scratches using a circular motion. Add several drops of heavy scratch remover to a clean cloth. Wipe the deep or large scratches with this solution. The scratches will not completely disappear, but this step will help make them less conspicuous. Dampen a clean cloth with fine polish.
